The Hunt for a Green Eyeshadow

**Bonus Post Alert** Because I skipped posting last week, I thought I’d post twice this week for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy! xoxo

I went to Walmart after work this afternoon on a whim. I did need socks, so it wasn’t a complete impulse shopping spree. But I did scout out some great makeup finds that I’m really excited about, including a gorgeous L’Oreal Infallible eye shadow in Golden Emerald. Check out the video below showcasing my recent buys!

A Girl Who Lived in Her Shoes

I have recently purchased several new pairs of shoes…okay five! Maybe it’s a problem or maybe I’m simply beefing up my collection. I work in an office environment which is in academia. I also look like my students…being a twenty something in academia can have this effect. So last year (my first year as a professor), I was very lackadaisical about my style…I was so busy with my doctorate and my new career, I would go to work with wet hair (gasp!) and no real direction in my appearance. This year, although I continue to be busy with school and my workload, I felt to set myself apart from my students as well as make a better appearance to my colleagues, I needed to amp up my wardrobe and style a bit. Now, I feel like I should say a caveat: I was never “spoken to” about my appearance…I was always clean, well-groomed with appropriate clothes, but I, personally, felt I could make a little more effort, mainly to boost my own self-esteem.

So that was a long introduction to my recent shoe purchases…but I digress. Although I am a grown ass women and don’t need to justify my purchases ;), I felt my wardrobe needed more stylish, yet comfortable footwear for the office as well as a night out. I also am a big believer in a good deal! All the shoes I present to you were bought on a relative budget, with the exception of one pricier pair (but they were on mega sale).

Here is the line up:

Here are the three black pairs closer up:

The splurge pair is these from Kate Spade. I bought them at Off 5th for $129, and they originally retailed for around $330. I have been in search for a pair of lasercut shoes, ever since I saw a pair designed by Lauren Conrad at Kohl’s that were nude, but are no longer available. Tears! So I jumped when I found this black pair today.

The second pair were a complete steal from TJ Maxx. A pair of Bandolino peep toe wedges with a Kate Spade-esque gold bow on the toe that were on clearance for $10! You can’t beat that with a stick! And they are comfortable as well.

The last black pair are cheapies from Payless Shoe Source, but I already have a similar pair in red patent, and they are so comfortable! The Comfort Plus shoe retails for $29.99 on the Payless website and come in a variety of colors. I chose these in black patent, and you will see shortly, I bought the wine color ones as well.

Then we have these two beauties, both similar in color: in the wine/purple hue family. I have been hunting for a shoe in this color for a while to go with a green trench dress I bought at Target this summer.

The first pair I purchased is also from Payless and is the same Comfort Plus brand (so comfy!) for $29.99. This is called “wine” online and has a suede-like texture. I wore these with my green dress, and got so many compliments on my look. I will definitely get good use out of them this fall.

Lastly, these Sam Edelman heels were a total impulse buy while shopping with my sister at Off 5th today. But they retail for $140, and were on clearance for $42! (Praise Hand Emoji!!) I couldn’t pass up this deal! They are a similar wine/merlot color to the Comfort Plus pair but edgier with the ankle wrap and pointed toe. I can’t wait to wear these!

So all in all, although I spent $241 on shoes this month, it was five pairs of shoes! And all versatile in how I plan to style them. Plus, there are a lot of people out there that will pay way more for one pair of shoes than what I did on five!

I hope you enjoyed a peek inside my newest editions to my shoe collection. I’m sorry that I didn’t post last week…I was in the middle of writing my preliminary exam for my doctorate and started teaching class that same week. So I was a stress ball! Thanks for stopping by! xoxo

Spending My Hard Earned Money

Here is a little post about some recent shopping I have done with mini reviews. I went to Publix, Sephora, and Target.

At Publix, I bought two things: a face wash and a moisturizer. Both were purchased by recommendations from other YouTubers: PrettyShinySparkly and AlissaEvelyn. The face wash is the Neutrogena naturals purifying facial cleanser. I really, really like this cleanser. It washes off excess makeup and leaves my skin feeling soft and clean. Just want a cleanser should be doing! I believe this retails for $6.99. The moisturizer is from alba botanica and is the Hawaiian oil-free moisturizer. I have oily, acne-prone skin, but I feel like this, despite it being on the heavier side, provides non-greasy, plumb skin after use. It retails for $19.49 on the alba website, but I believe my Publix had a cheaper price, around $14.

At Sephora, I went in specifically for the Living Proof Instant Texture Mist, which has now reached Holy Grail status for me. I received a small sample as a 100 point perk from Sephora a while ago, and rediscovered it in my travel essential box. I started to use it on a whim, and it’s a miracle worker! I have fine, frizzy hair with a natural wave to it, and this product gave my hair the oomph! it needed to have texture, body, and volume. I use it when my hair has almost completely dried, spritz some in, scrunch with my fingers, and blow dry it to completion. Now this stuff isn’t cheap: $26 for the full size (5 mL); however, it is a better deal to get the full size than the smaller in terms of price and amount. And it’s definitely worth it!

The other two products I bought were the Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick in the color Vigne and the Laura Mercier highlighter. The lipstick is a gorgeous fushia berry color that can be built up for a wow factor or sheered out for a pop of color. It’s my new summer favorite. This retails for $24 at Sephora. The Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight is a beautiful edition to my makeup collection that was lacking in this type of product. It gives my face a nice subtle glow without looking oily or overdone. This product is on the pricier side (for me anyway!) at $40.

And lastly, my Target shopping spree…I got the Dead Sea essentials bubble bath and shower gel in Hydrating Hibiscus. I have not used this product yet to give my first impression, but it smells heavenly. And I purchased a new toner by Botanics: the Cleansing Toner All Bright. This is great, doesn’t strip my skin, and I do feel like I have a bit more brightness to my skin after a week of using it.

Then I got some beauty items: three from elf cosmetics and two lip glosses from NYX Cosmetics. The elf small angled brush was $3, and I use it to apply my Anastasia Beverly Hills dipbrow pomade. The HD Lifting Concealer in Fair was also $3 and is creamy and doesn’t cake up. It seems to last for most of the day as well. The NYX Mega Shine Lip Glosses in Cosmo and Tea Rose were on clearance at my Target for $2.36. I believe these typically retail for around $4-5. I am obsessed with the Tea Rose color! It is a gorgeous pinky-rose shade that pops off the lips nicely. I would definitely recommend this one. Cosmo is on the more neutral side, but has mega shimmer.

The elf blush palette in Light was $6 and comes with four blush shades (no names per shade): a bright pink, a bronze, a dusty rose, and a shimmery peach shade. I have only used the bright pink with a light hand, and it really brightens the face up nicely. It’s been on my cheeks all week!

Check back every week for a new blog post! xoxo

Hello Lovelies!

Welcome to my corner of the interweb! I have been contemplating this venture for a while now, and have decided to jump on it…even though I have no time! But I feel I need a more stable outlet, meaning a place to express my passions and loves to those who have similar interests. This blog will display my current interests that range from beauty to home. So it will be eclectic to say the least, but hopefully it will be interesting to you just as it is to me.

I hope to post regularly, and will try my darnedest! Although, I will need leeway at times as I am a full-time professor of nursing as well as a full-time doctoral student. Ahh! Yeah, I’m crazy.

So stick around, and I hope you enjoy my content. I look forward to connecting with those who visit me here at ocdRN_Beauty!
