Today I bring you a makeup look I wore to work last week. The bright lip may not be something everyone is comfortable with depending on the environment of their office. Even though I work in the conservative walls of academia, I like to spice up my look with bright lips. And I always get compliments from my colleagues! So I take the risk because this is how I’ve come to express my style. My eye makeup is my typical look that includes my favorite eyeshadow, Nars Ashes to Ashes.
These are the products I used for my base: Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous in 110 Creamy Natural (this has excellent coverage without feeling too heavy); ELF HD Lifting Concealer in Fair on my spots and red areas; L’Oreal MagicLumi Highligher in Light for under my eyes; and my new Holy Grail brow pencil: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Taupe.
For accentuating my face I used The Body Shop bronzer in medium matte, tarte Amazonian clay blush in exposed, and Laura Mercier matte radiance baked powder in Highlight 01. Then I set everything with Urban Decay all nighter setting spray which I spray on a Real Techniques brush and buff into my face. I find this technique prolongs the wear of my makeup significantly.
My eye look includes a new palette to me by Flower Beauty from Walmart. I used my trusted Nars Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow base to prime my eyelids and then used the purple color in the Secret Garden palette all over my lid. I applied Nars Ashes to Ashes in my crease and added the lightest color in the Flower palette to the inner corner and as a brow highlight. I lined my upper lash line with Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in No. 4 Black Cocoa. This is a much loved product, but my only complaint is it doesn’t sharpen smoothly. Another much loved product is the cheapest, yet longest lasting, and I use this to line my lower lash line. I have had this Wet n Wild Kohl Brow-Eyeliner in Dark Brown for years and it continues to prosper. And I use it almost every single day! I think it retails for around $0.99 which is just beyond unbelievable for the quality and amount you get. For mascara, I used my sample of tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes. I have used a full-size in the past, and forgot how great this mascara is. It provides length and volume without clumping.
And the pièce de résistance of the look is the lip combo that includes a lip liner I received in my August ipsy bag, Skone Cosmetics Luxe Doubler eye & lip pencil in the color 18-Wine. I only use it is a lip liner because it seems a strange color to put on your eyes, and it seems unsanitary to use a product on both your lips and eyes! And I paired it with the luminous creme lipstick by Bite in Vigne, which is a beautiful raspberry pink color.
