Urban Decay XX Vice Ltd Reloaded Look

IMG_0320

As promised, here is a look I crafted using the UD XX Vice Ltd Reloaded palette that is sold exclusively at Ulta for $56. See last Friday’s post that features this palette, swatches, and a review.

I used Suspend (top left corner) as a crease color/transition shade, UV-B all over the lid (packed on with a brush and my finger for true color payoff), Freakshow blended out in the crease, and Twice Baked on top of Freakshow and blended into the outer V and crease.

On the lower lash line I smudged UV-B and Twice Baked from one corner to the other.

I lined my tight line and water line with Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon in Black and my upper lash line with ELF’s Precision Liquid Liner. And I used Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes on my top lashes, and Maybelline’s Lash Discovery on my bottom lashes. And I filled in my brows with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Taupe.

For my face, I primed my face with Cover Fx Illuminating Primer and under eyes with ELF’s Hydrating Under Eye Primer. I used L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte foundation in 102 Shell Beige (excellent color match and coverage for me). I color corrected with Benefit’s Dandelion Shy Beam. This is meant to be a highlighter, but is a matte pink and excellent for under the eyes and those pesky dark circles. I also used Rimmel’s Match perfection concealer in 240 Fair/Light Neutral. I covered my redness with ELF HD Lifting Concealer in Fair.

The rest of my face I used Dim Light from the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit palette all over to set my foundation. I recently purchased Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Medium/Deep Matte Bronzer and I used that as a contour under my cheekbones, on my forehead, and on the sides of my nose. I used a neutral blush on my cheeks (Tarte’s Exposed blush), and I highlighted with Makeup Revolution’s Vivid Baked Highlighter in Radiant Lights.

For lips, I used Sonia Kashuk’s Grand Bazaar Crushed Petal matte lipstick, which is a comfortable rosey nude matte shade. And I topped this with Buxom’s Full-On Lip Cream in White Russian.

Urban Decay XX Vice Ltd Reloaded Review & Swatches

IMG_0338

I purchased the Urban Decay XX Vice Ltd Reloaded palette from Ulta about a month ago for $56. The only other UD shadows I have are in the Naked 1 palette, and I really wanted to try some shadows that were more colorful, vibrant, and could create more unique looks with. This palette definitely has a nice selection of colors to chose from for a variety of different looks. It also came with a double ended brush with a crease or blending brush on one end and a base shadow brush on the other.

However, some of the shadows don’t have the best color payoff and require multiple dips of the brush to create the desired pigmentation. Those shadows include Oil Slick, which is a black with glitter, Goldmine, which is a gorgeous yellow/gold. I would recommend using your finger with Goldmine to get a true opacity.

On the bright side, there are some great transition shades, Suspend (a taupey brown) and Laced (a pinker Naked color). My favorite color in the palette is UV-B, which is an absolutely gorgeous blue purple color. I also love Gash which is red shade and looks great blended out in the outer V.

Here are the shades:

And here are the swatches:

From top to bottom/left to right: Suspend, Oil Slick, Roadstripe, Gash, Midnight Cowboy, 501, Shallow, Laced, Hot Pants, Mildew

From left to right: Smog, Misdemeanor, Freakshow, Asphyxia, Acid Rain, Moonflower, UV-B, Goldmine, Twice Baked, Anonymous

Overall, I am enjoying the palette thus far, but I do need to create more looks. I have only used it a few times and have stayed pretty conservative and haven’t gotten too crazy! I am intrigued to use Hot Pants, which is a vibrant hot pink, and Asphyxia, which is a neon purple. Stay tuned next week where I will feature a look using this palette! Have a great weekend!

Makeup Geek Haul and Look

So…yeah…I bought more makeup. From a brand I have heard a lot about but have never tried. I used to follow Makeup Geek (MUG) on YouTube years ago, and I have just recently gotten back into her videos. I was primarily interested in the new contour powders she has released, and if I was going to have to pay shipping, I was going to get more stuff!

I got five eyeshadows, two brushes, a contour powder, and a medium Z palette for my new goodies.

From left to right: Shimma Shimma, Mai Tai, Creme Brulee, Frappe, and DayDreamer. The contour shade I picked up is Bad Habit, which is for fair warm skin tones.

The brushes I purchased are the small pencil brush and the soft domed brush.

And here is the look I created. I used all the products I purchased, except for DayDreamer.

Thanks for stopping by! xoxo

Birchbox | February 2016

Check out my mini-reviews of January’s Birchbox as well as what I got in my February Birchbox in the video below. And I want to apologize for being sort of out of it in this video. The day I filmed this was a whirlwind after finding out my fiance’s grandfather passed away and trying to prepare to travel for his funeral. But I really wanted to make sure I had a video for you this coming week.

But on a more upbeat front, I have hit over 75 subscribers on YouTube and hit another milestone here on WordPress with over 500 likes for my posts! I am so blessed and humbled by all of the support! I really enjoy sharing my love of all things beauty with you. You guys are the best! xoxo

A Small CVS Haul

I usually post early in the mornings on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but I didn’t pre-plan a post for today, so this is going up later than usual. I made an impromptu stop at CVS for band aids after I had to have a mole biopsied at the dermatologist this morning. No worries, just to ensure it is benign as I do have skin cancer in my family history. So of course, I picked up a few other goodies.

I have an order coming from MakeupGeek (post coming soon), so I didn’t need anything. But I watched Lisa Eldridge use Rimmel lippies in her current video and was interested. Plus most of the cosmetic brands had a Mix-Up Buy One Get One 50% of lip products. Check out what I got below!

IMG_0282

I needed some staples: CVS razors and CVS bikini creme (spend $10 on CVS shaving, get $4 in extra bucks). Then I needed band aids for the healing of my biopsy site, and these were buy one get one 50%, so I got one for me (Hello Kitty) and one for Abby (Star Wars).

Then I got a few makeup products.

I needed a new brow gel, so I decided to go with a tinted one by Nyx in Blonde. This was $6.99.

And then, like I said above, Lisa Eldridge used the Rimmel Pink a Punch lip liner with the matching lipstick in the One line. I decided to not get the One lipstick in Pink a Punch as I have heard mixed reviews on the formulation. So I opted for the Wet N Wild lipstick in Pinkberry. This is a cult classic and allegedly a dupe for a Mac lipstick (it’s escaping me at this time which one). I thought the two products matched better in the packaging then when swatched as the lipliner is peachier than the lipstick, but I was really feeling the spring/summer/bright lip due to all the cold weather we have been having lately.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend!
