Favorites | March 2016

This month I really didn’t have a lot of products new to discuss. I have really been enjoying the products I have consistently been using the last few months, especially working on these project pans (5 by Cinco de Mayo & Project Pan 2016). So here is a look at the small amount of favorites I have to share with you from March:

Project Pan 2016 | Update 1

So…I have seriously neglected this project pan. But doing this update has triggered my competitive side and want to get back on trying to finish up these products. I do feel like I have made some good progress on the two skincare items and a little progress on the lipstick and eyeliner, but if you refer back to my introduction post, I really haven’t made any dents in my eyeshadows in this project. Here is a current look at my progress:

Like I said, there isn’t really any noticeable progress on the Urban Decay eyeshadow “Naked,” Nars Ashes to Ashes, or NYX Leather or Lace, but I feel I have made slight progress on the ELF Mineral Pearls. The bronzer has gone no where, but I have picked it up almost every day this past week to add some life back into my complexion now that spring is upon us.

I have made small dents in these two products(Pixi eyeliner in Cocoa and Nars Dolce Vita lipstick), but the eyeliner is tough to use due to the inability to properly sharpen this. It has rough edges even after a good sharpening, which is not so pleasant on the eye area.

At the intro, I had about 1/3 left of this Aussie hairspray, and I have about 1/4 left now. I also have noticed the most difference in the two skincare items in this project: alba moisturizer and Mario Badescu Ceremide Eye Gel. I now have 1/4 of the moisturizer left, and will most likely finish the eye gel by the summer.

Let me know if you are working on any project pans. And I will give another update on my progress in about two months. ❤

Ofra Liquid Lipsticks | Swatches & Review

Just like with my recent ColourPop haul, I had been stalking the Ofra website and reading/watching review and swatch posts/videos on the liquid lipstick range. So I went for it and purchased three from the line. I also got 30% off using KathleenLights coupon code. (I think it is Kathleen30).

I chose bright colors for spring and summer. I picked Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Atlantic City (in this order in the picture below).

I have swatched each one on my lips below (in order of Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Atlantic City). And I’m sorry for the lighting in the last frame…it was after dinner, and I didn’t have great lighting.

So far, I love Santa Monica! It’s not too bright, but still vibrant enough for both spring and summer. Hollywood swatches a little patchy and got all over my teeth, so not my favorite. Atlantic City is a traditional red that looks great on everyone.

The formula is very creamy. And other than the patchiness of Hollywood, the pigmentation is on point. Very opaque and doesn’t require multiple layers.  I wore Santa Monica most of the day on Sunday and wore it out to a friend’s house for game night where cocktails and chips and dip were consumed. I was pleasantly surprised by how long lasting the pigmentation was considering the creamy nature of the formula. And when I wanted to reapply, it reapplied well over itself without clumping. The formula is also not as dry as some other liquid lipsticks, but it’s also not transfer proof. It’s going to transfer! However, it doesn’t run outside the lip line either.

Overall, I am impressed by the formula and wear of these lippies. I would consider other colors down the road, especially if I can use a 30% code from one of the popular YouTubers. Leave me a comment below if you have tried this liquid lipstick range.

Sephora Favorites: Paint It Pink

I purchased the Sephora Favorites Paint It Pink this past week for $40 online. And it is still currently online if you wish to purchase it. It is limited edition and a great value, so I bet it will go quick!

This comes with all the essentials: a nail polish, full size lipstick (usually $28), lip gloss, blush, full size eyeshadow ($19), highlight, and mascara plus a full size beauty blender ($20)! Three full size products for this price is awesome! The full size products sold separately would cost you $67, so to get all three plus five deluxe size products for $40 is basically a steal. And all the products are from well known brands and are quality. So let’s break it down….

The beauty blender is life. Wow! It plushes up so well with water and applies makeup beautifully. This was worth the purchase of the kit for me. I don’t know if it will replace my Real Techniques sponge as it is quite a bit more, but it’s nice to have it and say I’ve used a beauty blender. The kit also includes the famous Benefit Roller Lash mascara and a Deborah Lippmann polish in Baby Love, perfect for spring!

The kit also contains three powder products. A Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Blissful. The perfect flush of pink to the cheeks. A Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector pressed in Rose Gold. And a Urban Decay eyeshadow in Scratch (full size). The swatches are in order as described.

Then we have a Makeup Forever lip gloss and a Laura Mercier Velour Lipstick (full size) in French Kiss. I wore the lipstick yesterday sheered out and it last all day, even through lunch! It can be very vibrant or a nice bright pink if sheered out. Definitely a love.

Overall, I would highly recommend this kit. I have always loved the Sephora Favorites collections, but this one is an Amy Favorite so far! Let me know if you have this or plan on getting it! Have a great weekend!
