Sephora Play | November Box

I was relatively impressed with this month’s Sephora Play box. There were three makeup items and two skincare, plus the usual fragrance sample.

I know I love the Cover Fx Illuminating Primer. I have used a deluxe sample in the past, and it works great despite my skin type being on the oilier side. I have used the Glam Glow Thirsty Mud Mask once, and it was nice. I did have a minor breakout near my lip, but I don’t think it was because of the product…junk food is a real problem the week of Thanksgiving…The box also included Caudalie Vinosource moisturizing sorbet, which is supposed to be a gel cream that calms redness and congestion. I have not used this, and will probably pass it on to a sister as I have so many moisturizer samples to use.

Sephora Collection Ultra Shine Lip Gel in Pin Up Pink was included as a deluxe size. The color is very bright pink, and it’s not really my style, so I won’t be opening it and passing it along. The fragrance included is from the brand Maison Margiela “Replica” in Lipstick On. It is described as powdery and floral with bergamot and neroli. I will give it a try as I am really into laying my perfumes lately and have been using a lot of my samples to do this.

My most favorite thing is a deluxe sample of Laura Mercier’s Caviar Stick in Rose Gold. I love this formula as Amethyst is my favorite cream eyeshadow. The color is a creamy beige, not really rose gold, but it’s a nice wash of color on the lid or in the inner corner.

What did you get in your box this month? This continues to be my only subscription box, and I am satisfied with it. How do you feel about your subscription boxes?

My Night Time Skincare Routine

As promised, today I am sharing my night time skincare routine. A few weeks ago I shared my morning skincare regimen, and life gets crazy…as we all know. I wish my blog didn’t become neglected when my school (I’m getting my PhD) and work (I am a nursing educator at a large university) lives become overwhelming, but it does.

Anyway, here is what I use at night to keep my skin balanced and moisturized. For reference, I do have oily, breakout prone skin, but I find if I properly moisturize my oiliness isn’t as aggressive and breakouts are curbed.

For makeup remover:

I don’t use all of these at once. But for lazy nights, I use Pacifica’s Cactus Water micellar cleansing tonic. I like this a lot and it removes makeup really well! On nights I have more time and need a deeper cleanse, I will do a double cleanse with either the Tatcha Camellia cleansing oil or Clinique take the day off cleansing balm followed by a liquid cleanser. To remove eye makeup, my old stand by is Neutrogena oil-free eye makeup remover.

For cleansing:

I have been using the Arbonne Smoothing Facial Cleanser for regular cleansing after using an oil or balm. And for exfoliation I really like Acure brightening facial scrub. I have no more blackheads when I use this! It’s pretty rough and messy, but I like the effect on my skin, so I deal with it!

For treatment:

To tone my skin I use this homemade toner by my sister, which has aloe vera, apple cider vinegar, and lemon and lime essential oils. It smells strongly of apple cider vinegar, but really works to clarify my skin. I absolutely love SK II Facial Treatment Essence. Yes, it is so pricey! But…it moisturizes, treats, and balances my skin like nothing else, so it is completely worth the money to me. I usually follow these steps with Origins High Potency Night-a-Mins oil. This helps to keep moisture in overnight.

For moisture:

My eye cream is this sample of Murad Renewing Eye Cream, which is nice and is lasting a long time considering the size. I follow my oil step with Dr. Brandt pores no more 3-D volumizing mask. I love this stuff! It has really made a difference in diminishing my acne scars on my cheeks. This is a deluxe sample, and I haven’t purchased the $95 full size, but it is really good. For added moisture, some nights I will use Korres Wild Rose overnight mask, which is really moisturizing and calming. Other and most nights, I use belief true aqua bomb cream. I will purchase a full size of this when I finish, but I have used so many samples of this and love it! I have never had to buy a full size because Sephora gives these away like candy!

I also use Kaplan MD Perfect Pout duo about every other night. This is an exfoliating lip mask and a thick lip balm. I enjoy this as it isn’t a manual exfoliate┬á and not so rough on my lips.

What is your night time skincare routine? I would love to hear in the comments!

Vegas Photo Diary

Abby and I went to Vegas this past weekend for our 12 year anniversary. We stayed at the Bellagio, ate at Battista’s Hole in the Wall and Nobu, and saw Britney Spears and Elton John. It was a whirlwind weekend that was fun and memorable. Abby also spoiled me rotten and gifted me a Mulberry oxblood tote. It is gorgeous! I will do a current what’s in my bag soon! Check out my photo diary below of the weekend trip to Vegas!
