Sephora Play Box | October 2016

I felt this month’s Sephora Play box was slightly underwhelming. For example, while I love the belif aqua bomb moisturizer, I get this size sample all the time with 100 point perks or gifts with purchase at Sephora. What did you think of your box?

The one thing I am loving in this box is Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick in Driver’s Seat. I put this one before dinner when I got the box in the mail, had greasy Mexican food and beer, and it was still on my lips when I went to wash my face before bed! And it wasn’t drying or flaky. I am really considering getting more colors from this line.

The bag the products come in is really cute too: “Lipstix & Chill.” Love a good play on words. Other products included were a Christophe Robin Regenerating Mask (for hair) and belif true cream aqua bomb. I don’t like the smell of the hair mask, so I might be passing this on. I do love belif, and have gone through many samples of this. I never had to buy a full size because it’s always a sample! Skin Inc. Pure Revival Peel is also included which is supposed to slough off dead skin cells. I also got Blinc Mascara Amplified which is a tubing mascara. I’ve never tried a formula like this, so I’m interested in trying this. Lastly, the fragrance included is YSL Mon Paris, which is a fruity-floral scent.

Overall, this box was “eh” for me. I’m excited for the Smashbox lippie, but I could take or leave the other products. Let me know if your box was similar and your thoughts on it. I’d love to chat with you in the comments! xoxo

An 80s Party | OOTN & MOTN

One of our good friends turned 30 last week, so Abby and another friend threw her an 80s themed birthday party. It was a blast! Great music, slumber party foods (Doritos, pizza, and Reese Pieces), and wonderful people. Plus, I got to put my makeup skills to the test by creating a really fun makeup look that is reminiscent of the 80s. My muse was Jane Fonda and the invention of aerobics!

The only item for my outfit I had to buy were royal blue leg warmers (from Amazon). Everything else I already had. I wore liquid leggings from Nordstrom, Converse, and a men’s undershirt that I tied up in a sassy hip knot and stretched out the neck to be off the shoulder. I added some costume jewelry-coral bangles and dangling earrings. Then I teased by hair into a side pony and finished the look with a bright head band.

My eye look came from Urban Decay Vice Ltd XX palette, and I focused on the purple and pink shades. I used a bright pink blush from an ELF blush palette and ColourPop’s Wifey Lippie Stix. I have to toot my own horn here because I absolutely loved the finished look!

Abby was Marty McFly from Back to the Future and looked great as well! We had a lot of fun doing something out of the ordinary for a friend. I’m looking forward to my 30th birthday party in January, which will be 90s themed!

Pumpkin Patch | Fall Inspired OOTD

So let’s just get our basic white girl out in one blog post. You’ve all seen those memes of girls in their fall “couture” holding a Starbucks PSL. I personally do not like PSL, way too sweet, but I do like a basic Pike Roast with cream…Anyway, my parents invited me to go to a pumpkin farm last weekend. It was so fun! We picked pumpkins, went through a corn maze, and had hot apple cider. The farm also had baby animals (calf, goat, and miniature donkey!) plus a huge pot belly pig! I thought today I would show you a glimpse inside our day out and what I wore to be that basic white girl that’s so popular this time of year. 😛

Makeup was a neutral eye and berry lip. Pulling in those fall colors into my makeup. My sister is gorgeous, isn’t she? And the dog is my parent’s dog, named Pumpkin! No joke!

Shirt: H&M, Scarf: Nordstrom, Pants: Ann Taylor Loft, Boots: Target

My mom hates anything with growths on it. Remember the Tree Man from TLC years ago. Snaps if you do! The farm had these knobby pumpkins that sent my mother into a fit of the eeks!

Have you taken part in any festivities this fall season? Apple pickin’, pumpkin patches, etc? I’d love hear in the comments below!

My Morning Skincare Routine

My morning skincare routine is simple, yet effective. The products I use provide gentle cleansing, moisture, and a lasting glow.

I first use Arbonne Smoothing Facial Cleanser. This I got at an Arbonne party; however, while really nice and gentle, you can find great cleansers at the drugstore and Sephora for much less. Arbonne is a pricey product line where you need a consultant to purchase from. More readily available cleansers that I like include Neutrogena Naturals cleansers and Origins Checks and Balance Frothy Face Wash. Then I remove any leftover mascara and eye makeup that wasn’t removed the night before. I use Neutrogena’s oil-free eye makeup remover. I like this product a lot and have gone through several bottles in the past.

Then I use SK II Facial Treatment Essence to provide hydration to my skin. I absolutely love this stuff! While pricey, I have noticed a dramatic difference in my skin texture and hydration since using it. And I’ve gone through several bottles as well. For eye cream, I am using Murad Renewing Eye Cream right now. This was a sample from Sephora and is nice. I find the samples of eye cream I get in orders last a long time, so I never really need to purchase a full size product.

After these steps, I moisturize my skin with Tatcha Balanced pore perfecting water gel. This product has gold flecks in it, and not only provides great hydration but a dewy glow. And this product is suited for oily skin people, so it doesn’t break down on my oily skin and makeup applies like a dream on top. Lastly, I use a lip balm to prep my lips before adding color. Right now, I am using Tony Moly Bbo Bbo lip balm as I am panning this in my latest project. I like this a lot! It is moisturizing and smells like honey.

Next week I will share my night-time skincare routine, so stay tuned. Hope you enjoyed seeing my morning skincare routine. Let me know what products you use in the morning to help you wake up and look great! xoxo

Quick One Shadow Eye Look

Holy grail, ride or die, absolute favorite single eyeshadow…Go! Tell me your favorite in the comments. But my favorite is Nars Ashes to Ashes. Talk about pricey, but you get a ton of product! It’s $25 at Sephora and you get 2.2 gm. This is decent considering a little goes a long way. I wanted to share a look with you today at how I do my makeup everyday for work. This product allows me to look put together, but it’s quick to apply in the morning.

How To: Nars Ashes to Ashes (all over and blended into the crease); Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Stick in Amethyst (line top and bottom lash lines); Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

I hope you like this impromptu post on my favorite single eyeshadow! xoxo
